Widening Participation and the European Research Area (ERA)

A wider participation in R&I activities from all Member States and spreading of excellence to optimise the potential for a more innovative Europe – and realizing the Lisbon Treaty’s ERA: Aims in the programme are ‘Widening participation and the European Research Area (ERA)’, also called widening.

The Programme Grants Funds for:

  • R&I-cooperation between stronger and less strong Member States (Teaming, Twinning and ERA Chairs)
  • Enhancing the EU R&I system
  • Support for National Contact Points (NCP)
  • Other support measures to promote researchers from "widening" countries
